Who is the Bionic Wookiee?
Hopefully that’s been made clear in the About the Wook page. It’s me: David Burren, writing and speaking from my own experiences as a person living with Type 1 Diabetes.
As well as being the Bionic Wookiee, for years I’ve overlapped working in several industries including: my own freelance photography, photography tuition, university lecturing, contracts in software development and systems administration, and a few others. I haven’t earnt income from anything relating to diabetes.
Another role
In the interests of open-ness and clarity, I should now mention a recent addition that’s related to healthcare.
I’m currently working part-time as a software engineer for the Diabetes Clinical Research department of the Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute in Melbourne. Hopefully this work will help produce some exciting research results!
However please be clear that the job is independent of this blog, and I do not speak for the Baker! I will continue my activities here independent of the Baker. If there is a future cross-over or conflict of interests, I will of course declare it.
I also continue in my other roles (the Baker work is not my only job). And the software I contribute to open source projects is similarly unconstrained.
We now return you to your regular programming….
